Peter Garrett Visit

Peter Garrett, Federal Minister for School Education, took time out of his busy schedule to visit our school to look at how we use technology in our classrooms. He was really impressed with a lot of things, especially our 1 to 1 laptop program and spoke about it to WIN news. This is his interview.

1 to 1 Laptop Program

At MOPS, Years 3 to 6 kids each have a laptop that they use for learning at school and at home. We make KeyNotes about spelling rules, do creative writing tasks, make comics, do maths mentals, complete comprehension activities, create movies and podcasts about various things, research a whole lot of things on the internet, design campaigns warning about the dangers of tobacco and alcohol abuse, and loads of other fun stuff. We recorded this podcast about the laptop program so you can understand what we do here at MOPS.

Our Thoughts on Bullying

Ben, Samantha, Ronan and Amber were all Year 6 students in 2011. Like everyone else at our school, they wanted a school free of any bullying behaviour. They interviewed many students from across the school and created this podcast. It highlights the need for us all to work together to stamp out bullying. The podcast raises a lot of important issues and we urge you to listen to it.
