Week 7 in Our Classroom

This week we have discussed ideas for the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence which occurs on the 18th of March. The kids came up with some great activities to do throughout the day. It's great to give the kids some ownership over what they would like to do to raise awareness about this very important issue.

Our narrative writing is improving and this week we will be focusing on adding speech to our texts in a meaningful and accurate way. Next week we will publish a narrative using all the techniques we have learnt this term.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent teacher interviews will be held in week 9 this term. These 10 minute interviews are a great chance for us to discuss how your child is settling into the new year and any issues or concerns you may have. They are also a great opportunity for you to let me know about any individual needs your child might have. Before you come it would be a great idea to have a think about what I need to know about your child as their classroom teacher. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and your children better through the process.

3/4B Term 1 Week 7- Miss Royall and Parent Teacher Interviews

Charlotte Royall, whom many of you know from 1/2R last year is teaching 3/4B up until Easter as I'm sitting in for Mr Holmes while he is on leave. Miss Royall is enjoing working with the class and has some wonderful learning activities planned for the next three weeks. Please welcome her back!

So what are we up to? Morning fitness and gathering weather data are keeping the class busy first thing! Maths is targetting efficient number strategies and in English the 100 word challenge writing skills are really coming together.

Week 6 in Our Classroom

This week in geography the children have started researching their country of choice, and are beginning to think about an engaging way to present their information.

In maths we will be focusing on the perimeter of different 2d shapes and also developing a range of efficient addition and subtraction strategies.

We are becoming better authors and are learning different ways to begin our stories. We will also be working on adding detailed descriptions to our narratives.

Week 5 in Our Classroom

It was lovely to see so many parents at our information session on Monday afternoon. For those that missed the meeting here is a brief outline of what we talked about.

In Maths, the kids have been working hard to build on their knowledge of equivalence and deepen their understanding of patterns. We've also worked hard to improve our skills when reading the time.

During literacy we're learning how to 'hook' the reader in. Our reading groups have commenced and the children are working well independently to improve their comprehension skills.
