Outdoor Learning Area

Have you seen our our new outdoor learning area? It's been a huge hit in the week it's been open, both as an outdoor classroom and a magical play space.

The Year Ahead

2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year! We welcome new staff and new families to our school community, and together look forward to the year ahead. In 2017 we will continue to be the “small school where big things happen”.

Our iBook

Earlier this year, as a staff, we decided to publish a book. It’s available in the iBooks Store and you can download it for free. We wanted to tell our story; to share with the world some of the exciting things that happen here at MOPS. I feel the book’s description sums up who we are as a school and what we’ve been up to in recent times.

Getting the Balance Right

Some weeks are busier than others …

Last week at MOPS there was certainly no shortage of learning opportunities to inspire and extend students. A quick check of the timetable revealed the following activities occurred at some time during the week.

A book fair was held in the library.

Aunty Shas, a local Aboriginal elder, worked with classes across the school sharing culture and stories.

One of our teachers, also a children’s book author, worked with classes on storytelling, as part of a whole school writing focus.

It's All About the People

We use a lot of technology at Mount Ousley. But that doesn’t mean for a single moment that we’re a technology focused school. We are not.

In fact, we have two simple focuses that underpin everything we do: people and learning. Everything else is of secondary importance.

Our school is a people place. It’s a place that we want everyone to feel genuinely connected to. It’s a place where every child is nurtured to feel they belong; to know that this school is a place for them. We are a school where relationships and wellbeing matter more than anything else.
